Dustin James Davenport

Dustin James Davenport was a kind and loving son who had many hopes for his future. He was born July 20, 1985, in Susanville, California, to Sherry Chappuis Hunt and Matt Davenport. Dustin lost his life at the young age of 31 on February 5, 2017, in Reno, Nevada. Dustin had struggles in life that called him to his Heavenly home early; he was received in the Loving arms of his Heavenly Father and beloved grandparents.

Dustin lived in Susanville until he was 16, where he attended Meadow View and Lassen High School, before moving to Minden, Nevada, where he attended high school. He later moved to Reno, Nevada. He had been attending school in Reno for welding, in the hopes of one day working in the trade with his dad.

Dustin had a wonderful relationship with his grandparents. He loved hunting and fishing with his grandpa, Jim Hunt. Oh, the stories he could tell you! Spending the day hunting in the woods with his grandfather was one of his favorite things to do; he dreamed of following in his grandpa’s footsteps and becoming a hunting guide one day. We know he is in Heaven with Jim, laughing and telling hunting stories. He also had a deep love and respect for his grandmother, Barbara Hunt, and enjoyed spending quality time with her over a cup of coffee. Moreover, he loved to visit grandparents Clete and Sue Davenport in Fort Jones, California, where he enjoyed riding horses with his sister.

Dustin was a great talker with a wonderful sense of humor; he could strike up a conversation with anyone and talk for hours, especially if it was about the things he loved. He loved to be outdoors, whether in the mountains or the desert, and always wanted to be out hiking, fishing, or camping.

Dustin will be greatly missed and is survived by a large, loving family: parents Sherry Chappuis Hunt, Matt and Michelle Davenport, sons Wyatt and Axill, sisters Kayla (Brian) Burt and Kena Longabaugh, brothers Derek Robertson, Ethan, Izak, and Deric Davenport, sister Katrina Davenport, step-sister Julisa Edwards, step-brother Josh Edwards, nieces and a nephew, Betty and Ron Porter, and lots of aunts and uncles. He is preceded in life to the great forest in Heaven by his grandparents Jim Hunt and Barbara Hunt, and Clete and Sue Davenport.

As per Dustin’s request, he will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be Saturday, February 11, at 2:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (935 Mercedes Drive, Sparks 89436) in Spanish Springs, Nevada. A viewing will be held at O’Brien Rogers & Crosby (600 W. 2nd Street, Reno) on Friday, February 10 at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you talk to your children repeatedly about the devastating effects of addiction and intervene with loved ones who struggle with this epidemic. Become an advocate and write your local legislators to increase the funding for addiction, mental health research, and treatment centers. Please do whatever it takes to fight this disease that is gripping our nation, so you never have to feel the loss we feel. Please donate to Salvation Army or local addiction recovery programs.

David Walter Sullivan

David Walter Sullivan was born 10-24-80 and passed from this world, into heaven too soon on 2-21-17. Dave was an amazing man! He spent more than half of his life loving his wife, Chris Sullivan madly, truly, deeply… And loving his kids Kyrie, Jordan, and Dominique to the moon and back.

In his short life, he touched the souls of every person he met. He was loving, sarcastic, funny, and tough on the outside but a teddy bear on the inside. He was 100% dedicated to every person in his family, especially his dad Eugene ‘Charlie’ Sullivan and his sisters Christy and Tiffany. Always there for others that he called family. He took both young and old under his wing and gave them guidance.

He was the best poppop ever to his grandson Aaron and loved sharing snacks and oatmeal with him. Dave also leaves behind his mom, Debbie Sullivan, his grandma, Nancy Chalmers, whom he cherished, and countless other family and friends. We invite all those that he touched to celebrate his life with us.

Yvette Crouch

Yvette Crouch passed Tuesday, March 28 into the loving arms of Jesus, to join her mother, father, and relatives. She has touched many lives across the country.

Evie was born in Indianapolis on St. Patrick’s Day in 1956. In that era, children with Down Syndrome where commonly put into institutions.  Her parents, Don and Paula Crouch, chose to raise with her at home with her three siblings.  In Indiana she grew up with many cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends of the family in Indiana for 48 years. She is best remembered for her love of sports, huge sporty –shirt collection, and saving her mother’s life in 1976.

By 2004 both of Evie’s parents had passed and she came to live with Minette and Doug Hutchinson in Susanville and began her next 13 years as a CA girl.  Yvette attended Lassen Life Skill for 13 years and North Valley Services for her last four months. Evie loved the many activities and especially Special Olympics. Yvette was always welcomed at Richmond School where her sister worked.  Students were always excited for her visits, and shared lots of “Evie stories” with their parents. Yvette attended CEFC where she enjoyed the many hugs and bobbing to the music.

Yvette loved to travel.  She would unwind after the long trip to Doug’s family in Yakima, WA with a few semi-cartwheels & a big smile. Evie also enjoyed visits to cousins in San Diego, Port Hadlock, WA, New York, Indiana, and her nephews Ross and Garrett Steensland in OR.  Even though the annual 36-hour trip to the family fishing camp in Lake of the Woods, Canada was long, she never complained.

Yvette Crouch is succeeded by her sister, Minette Hutchinson of Susanville, and brother, Eric Crouch of Indianapolis. Her service was held at CEFC on Numa Street in Susanville on Saturday, April 22.  Please send any donations to SAAC (Special Athletes and Activites Club), PO Box 3000, Susanville, CA 96130 in honor of Evie. The funds will be used for Special Olympics and local activities. Thank you, Evie, for being such an incredible part of so many people’s lives.

Robert Edwards

Robert Edwards passed away from this life with family by his side due to complications from an illness.

Bob was born in Oroville, CA to John Edwards and Mary Bradford Edwards. He was a long time resident of Lassen County moving here at age 11, and never wanting to live anywhere else.

After graduating from Lassen High School in 1968, he enlisted in the Army and served his country in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne. Bob returned home in 1971 with a Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals.

He worked for Sierra Pacific Industries as a Head Rig Sawyer and as Sawmill Foreman. He also worked for Baldwin Construction and Larimer-Surian Construction until he retired.

Bob’s passion was the outdoors. He took every chance he could to go hunting, fishing, shooting, or simply to cruise his truck down long backroads, enjoying the wildlife while taking note of each dry lodgepole pine that would make for the best firewood. When he was at home, he could be found working in his shop – tying jigs, reloading ammunition, or picking a tune on his old guitar.

He is also survived by brothers, Ray (Jennifer) Flowers of Herlong, CA and Carl Ed Flowers of Sparks, NV; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
