Clay Dalton Cagle

Clay Dalton Cagle, 16, passed away on June 21, 2017 in the early morning hours in a tragic automobile accident in Janesville, California. He was born on August 14, 2000, in Susanville, Ca to Jeffrey and Michelle Cagle.

Clay spent his youngest years in Janesville attending Janesville Elementary School. After a few short years in Doniphan Missouri and Eddyville, Kentucky Clay returned home and attended Richmond Elementary, where he said, Miss Goni watched him like a hawk. Clay enjoyed all sports, baseball, basketball and football and after his Freshman year, Clay discovered the sport that he truly loved and excelled in, trap shooting, eventually becoming Vice President of the Lassen Clay Breakers and lettering in the sport. But his true love was found in a muddy field or flooded pond where since the age of three he could be found hunting with his dad, a number of other hunting buddies and especially loved hunting with Jake (his unofficial) older brother.

For all who met Clay, had met a friend. Sporting a contagious grin, he would leave you laughing either with his quick wit or practical joke. Going out of his way to look out for someone going through a hard time, he showed his love and caring through his actions and some would say never uttered a foul word about another. Clay was known for being kind-hearted, compassionate, and respectful while occasionally causing a few headaches among his teachers, a few gray hairs for his dad and his love of his mother and sister.

Clay had many plans after high school. But as most young men wanted to try them all before settling on one.

Clay is survived by his Father, Jeff Cagle of Standish; Mother, Michelle Fauls Cagle of Reno; sister Bobbi Cagle of Reno; Grandparents Ron and Kathy Stephens of Milford and Dan and Aldina Cagle of Doniphan, Mo. Uncle Larry Fauls of Sparks, Nv. Aunt Michelle and Uncle Jarod Olson of Milford, Ca. Cousins Ryan and Lacy Freitas, Bailey Olson, Danny and Joey Kellas, Marcus, Lawrence and Ryan Fauls, and all those who knew and loved him.

Keith Winship

April 10, 1950 – September 20, 2017
Born and raised in Susanville, Keith was the eldest son of Ralph and Loretta Winship. Keith attended Lassen High School, where he excelled at football and was scouted by several universities. After graduating in 1968, Keith elected to attend junior college in Sacramento but shortly returned to Susanville to work with his father in the woods. Keith was an excellent timber faller and traveled the west coast working for a helicopter logging company. He loved working in the woods, looking forward to each new season.

Keith retired from logging after an automobile accident in 1981. Through strength and determination, he returned to work when he and his father purchased Diamond Saw Shop. Keith accepted the role as single father to his three daughters while operating his own business. Taking an early retirement in 1991, Keith filled his time with bass fishing and leather work. He was an award-winning leatherworker, creating pieces for friends and family to enjoy. The greatest joy was brought to him by his three grandsons. He loved spending time with them and said taking care of them during the summer was his “job”. His love and dedication to his family are cherished and will live on in the generations that follow.

Keith was loved, respected and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Loretta Winship. Keith is survived by his daughters, Kerri Cobb, Stacy Winship, and Carly Winship, his son-in-law Terry Cobb, Jr., his grandsons Tanner Cobb, McCoy Cobb, and Dominic McClain, his brothers, Ralph Winship Jr. and Randy Winship, and sister-in-law Nancy Winship. Also surviving Keith, are his aunt, Vernice Palmer and numerous cousins and nephews.

A luncheon to honor Keith’s life will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the Monticola Club in Susanville. Please bring a story to share with his family and friends to celebrate his life.

Esther Linnea Ceccato

Esther Ceccato was born March 12th, 1931 to Swedish immigrants Gustav Harald and Anna Helgerson in Swansea MA. The youngest of five children and the only girl, she grew up tough.
Mom loved her brothers and remained close to them throughout her life. Esther spent the majority of her adult life living in Northern California, first in Shasta and later in Siskiyou Counties. For the past year and a half, she resided in Lassen County.

Esther was a capable, generous-hearted and spunky woman who loved the outdoors. She was equally in her glory showing hospitality to guests or in the woods stalking deer. For her, the only thing better than hunting was eating venison and during her lifetime, she put 26 of them in her freezer. Mom also loved camping, fishing and working outside. Her home was open to others and over the years she fed many hungry college students, missionaries, friends from church, neighbors, and family. Esther worked in a number of jobs over the years but her main career was being a homemaker. Her house was a central place for her family. Esther was a Christian and served her Lord where she could, notably as a church musician for many years.

Esther was preceded in death by her husbands Daniel Wetmore, and Richard Ceccato. She is survived by her daughters Bonnie (Hubert) Garland of Palo Cedro, CA, Cindy (Tony) Loubet of Janesville, CA, Amy Hill of Weed, CA; grandchildren Daniel and Jonathan Garland, Jeremiah and Josh Loubet, Rachel Kozloski, Sherry Hill, Amber Cheney, Daniel Hill, 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Standish Bible Church this Saturday (Oct 28th) at 10:00. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Standish Bible Church for the AWANA ministry.
