Margaret Rose Giamo ReBell

Margaret Rose Giamo ReBell, our family matriarch, entered into heaven on the morning of June 26, 2018 in Susanville, Ca.

Margaret was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 3, 1922 to Maria Bruno Giamo and Benedetto Giamo. There she grew to love and learn all the wonderful traditions of her Italian family. Margaret was a wonderful cook who took delight in serving her Italian dishes and baking Italian cookies to share with her family and neighbors. As a young woman, she worked as a waitress in Cleveland’s Chef Boyardee restaurant, owned by Chef Boyardee himself. While dining, he asked exclusively for “Margarita” to be his waitress.

Margaret’s love for her family was the most cherished of all her gifts. She loved us all unconditionally, especially her husband, Raymond W. ReBell. Raymond, Marie and Ronald were born of their love. Together, they built a home in Warrensville Heights, Ohio, and lived there for many years before moving to Susanville to be near their boys and grandchildren. Many years were spent celebrating and enjoying each other’s company.

Margaret and Raymond traveled throughout Europe with their daughter and son-in-law, Marie and RIchard Evans. Margaret spoke fluent Italian and delighted in acting as their interpreter while touring through Italy.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Raymond W. ReBell, parents, Maria and Benedetto Giamo, brothers Nathan Giamo and Angelo Giamo, and sisters Angela Randazzo and Teresa Collova.

Margaret is survived by her three children Raymond O. (Rozanne) ReBell of Quincy, Marie (Richard) Evans of Naples, Florida, and Ronald (Susan) ReBell of Susanville, Ca.

She is also survived by her granddaughters Renee ReBell, Robyn ReBell, Jennifer (Danny) Meisenheimer and Lindsey Rae ReBell. Her surviving grandsons include Chad (Patti) Evans, Neil (Tammy) ReBell and Ryan(Ronni) ReBell.

Margaret was loved by thirteen great-grandchildren: Drew ReBell, Madalyn ReBell, Bridget ReBell, Michaela ReBell, Zachary Miller, Nathan Miller, Megan Meisenheimer, Will Meisenheimer, Leila Evans, Roman Evans, Raymond C. ReBell, Nicolette ReBell and Madison Ray ReBell.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Waltons Colonial Mortuary in Susanville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lassen Nursing and Rehabilitation Resident Activity Fund 2005 River St. Susanville, Ca. 96130 in Margaret’s memory.

The family of Margaret wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the entire staff of Lassen Nursing. While she was a patient there, she received the most loving care imaginable. We are forever grateful for their patience, guidance and hearts of gold.

Joyce L. Hart

Our dear mother Joyce passed away peacefully in Susanville on Friday, July 20th at the age of 86 surrounded by family.

She has moved on to join her husband Stanley Eugene Hart, granddaughter Shelly Lynn Humphrey, parents, brothers Roy and Roger Johnson, and many other beloved family members and dear friends.

She was born on September 24, 1931, in San Francisco, Ca to Arthur and Lydia Johnson. She was the second born of five children; Roy(dec), Alan(Jeannie), Roger(dec), and Carol(Donn).

Mom, loved sharing her memories of being raised in a sparsely populated neighborhood, on the grassy hill in Bernal Heights District of San Francisco. She liked being surrounded by her treasured grandmother, aunts, cousins, and other family. She spoke often of how they would ride the buses to Play Land, the Zoo, the ocean, and uptown to buy lunch or snacks for 50 cents.

In her teens, the Johnson family moved to Sawyers Bar, CA in Siskiyou County. There her father took ownership of a small country store that Mom worked in along with helping to look after her younger siblings. As a young adult she returned to San Francisco for a short time and lived with her grandmother, then returned to Sawyers Bar. It was there that she met our dad where he was logging during the summer. They were married July 5, 1956, living in Redway and Covelo, CA. They had four kids; Susan Hart of Susanville, son Ross Hart of Bealeton, Virginia, daughter Donna Hart, and son Dean Hart of Alturas, CA.

In 1966 they moved the family to Westwood and then on to Susanville in 1969 to which they soon called home.  Mom was a homemaker for many years while us kids where young.  Years later she took a job as a clerk for Warrens Pharmacy and then at the Senior Nutrition Center; both giving her ample opportunity to become more acquainted with many others in the Susanville Community.

Mom loved treasured times with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren Rusty Hart(Shanna), Ryan Hart, Mason Wolf(Erica), and her four great-granddaughters Abigale, Isabelle, Kaiya, and Claire.

Mom was best known for sharing a good joke, playing card or board games with friends, reading, and working puzzles. She would strive to smile and maintain a cheerful and positive disposition. She was well known for baking treats for friends and neighbors, and always eager to meet and welcome any newcomers to her neighborhood.

Mom will be dearly missed by family and many close friends.

A celebration of life will be planned and announced at a later date.

He worked as a painter, home remodeler, landscaper, and other jobs that involved the home. In 1992, he moved to Lees Summit, MO, and did more contracting work before joining Schwaan’s. It was through that job in 1999 that he met his wife Dixie Beechner. They left MO in 2000 and settled in the Reno area.

In the Army, Bill achieved the rank of Private. He was Honorably Discharged and remained fiercely proud of his service and his country. It was not unusual to see Bill wearing some garment, whether it be a tee shirt, ball cap, or jacket depicting his role as a veteran, and his pride in the USA.

On June 16, 2001, Bill and Dixie were married in Reno, NV. They had just celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary. Dixie survives him at their home in Doyle, CA. Bill is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Darrell M. and Pam Jerden of Bloomington, IN; and Brian W. and Kathy Jerden of Lees Summit, MO; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is survived as well by his stepchildren Jackie Beechner of Lake Stevens, WA; John Beechner of St. Joseph, MO; and Jay Beechner of Herlong, CA. In addition to his stepchildren, he is survived by his 4 step-grandchildren Dustin Beechner, Danyelle Beechner, and Shanin Ellsworth (Beechner) of MO and Joshua Beechner of Reno, NV; and 5 step-great-grandchildren Alivia Woods, Noah Woods, and Jozlyn Beechner of MO; and Nathan Beechner and Anabelle Beechner of NV. He was also a very proud honorary grandfather to Morgan Ausmus of Doyle, CA.

Bill was a stranger to no one, loved by everyone, and will be deeply missed. He was always the first to lend a hand wherever needed, a patient teacher, and very proud “Papa” to his extended family.

A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 11:00 am at Walton’s Colonial Mortuary, 115 South Lassen Street, in Susanville, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to causes involving veterans, such as homeless veteran or wounded warrior projects.

Larry Dale Helt

Larry Helt was born in Dodge City, Kansas on August 9, 1944 and passed from this life peacefully on September 26, 2018 at his home in Susanville.  He was predeceased by his father, Russ, his mother, Roma and his sister, Cheryl.  He is survived by his wife, Mary; five children, Christina (Renn) Abbott, Ron (Kim) Helt, Julie (Mark) Chroust, Laura (Gabe) Whitney, Jennifer Helt; and stepson, Casey Bouchard.  He loved them all very dearly and held his seventeen grandchildren close to his heart.  He had three great grandchildren and another due any day.

Larry’s family settled in southern California when he was very young, and he grew up in the Glendale, Montrose and Tujunga areas.  In 1965, he married Lorraine Chafee.  As they raised their children, they relocated to Grover Beach, Lake Almanor and on to Susanville in 1976.  In 1994 their marriage ended, but not their mutual respect for each other and as parents to their children.   In 1999, he and Mary Grimes Bouchard were wed and enjoyed every day they had with each other and all of the children they shared.

Larry loved spending time with his children, whether it was working on cars, wood-cutting, going to museums, water parks, fishing trips, barbeques on the patio, ping pong challenges, bowling, boating; anything and everything.  When his children were involved, it was all time well spent.  He loved to watch the 49er’s and though he cut his eye teeth on the Dodgers, the Giants did catch his eye after he lived in Susanville for a few years.  Later on, his passions were bowling and golf, which he and Mary shared for the years they had together.

He had a huge heart, always a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He was a man of balance, optimism, strength, courage and grace.  He knew his priorities and lived a good life.   He set a fine example and will live in our hearts always.

Services will be held at Walton’s Colonial Mortuary on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 3pm.  A potluck gathering will follow at the Monticola Club across the street.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Honey Lake Hospice (P.O. Box 1166, Susanville, CA 96130,) Northern California Cancer Advocates (P.O. Box 270938, Susanville, CA 96127,) or a charity of your choice.
